Science Consortia Manager
Development Director

About the Foundation

The Keeling Curve Foundation (KCF) is a young California-based nonprofit that seeks to advance, promote, and protect long-term environmental observations (LTOs). Founded in 2022 by Scripps scientist Ralph Keeling, the Foundation fulfills Charles D. Keeling’s personal wish to inspire other scientists to sustain environmental measurements year on year. KCF works with its Science Advisory Council and affiliated scientists to identify long-term observations (LTOs) at risk. We convene events, produce reports, and advance public understanding of the importance of this science. Learn more about KCF here.

About the Data Continuity Initiative (DCI)

Recently, KCF has launched the Data Continuity Initiative (DCI). The purpose of the DCI is to identify and rescue critically-threatened long-term observations by serving as a bridge between LTO scientists and philanthropic support, should federal support be lost or reduced.

The DCI will serve to:

  • Identify individual LTOs at imminent risk of closure;

  • Work with LTO scientists to develop strategies for continuing key elements of LTOs, absent federal support;

  • Work with LTO scientists to develop proposals for securing philanthropic support;

  • Liaise as needed with philanthropists and LTO scientists to ensure accountability and an efficient rescue effort; and

  • Ensure coordination and collaboration with other groups engaged in similar efforts.

Development Director

Position Type: Part-time, contract

Location: The position can be remote anywhere within the U.S., with a preference for Southern California residents.

Travel requirements: Short-term travel may be necessary.

Job Overview:

The Development Director will play a key role in fundraising for the Keeling Curve Foundation’s programs and securing philanthropic support for the Data Continuity Initiative (DCI). This position oversees all aspects of programmatic and operational fundraising, helping sustain the Foundation’s core activities such as the Keeling Award, the Keeling Lecture, and Climate Week NYC participation.
